
Tokyo-listed investment firm Metaplanet has approved a $1.2 billion overseas share issuance, allocating approximately $837 million to further increase its Bitcoin reserves, currently totaling nearly 19,000 BTC. Under CEO Simon Gerovich's leadership, the company aims to become Asia’s largest corporate Bitcoin holder and is pursuing an ambitious goal to hold 210,000 BTC by 2027. Metaplanet’s strategy leverages Japan’s challenging macroeconomic environment, using Bitcoin as a hedge against inflation and currency risk, supported by favorable local regulations encouraging crypto adoption among public companies.
